Coal Tit

The Coal Tit is a small UK resident bird that has a white face with a black cap, brown-grey back and buff belly. It has two white wingbars that will distinguish it from other birds.

These birds may be found in both conifer and deciduous woodland throughout the UK, and will visit the garden in winter for food. They nest in hollows and may use a nest box with a small opening.

Although they eat insects and seed in the forest through the summer, Coal Tits will visit hanging feeders (often with Blue Tits and Great Tits) to take sunflower seed and hearts, peanut and suet.
