The Nuthatch is a small round bird with a short tail. It has blue-grey upper body, pale orange under body, white face with a black mask. It has a long pointed bill.

This is a widespread bird through England and Wales, and lives in woodland habitats climbing around the tree trunk and branches looking for food. Adults nest in holes in trees and may be reduced in size using mud. They may use nest boxes if they are provided with a sufficiently small hole.

Nuthatch will visit gardens for nuts and seeds, which are its natural food in the wild in winter. They feed themselves and their young on insects and bugs in the summer.
