Redwing

A small but recognisable Thrush with brown back, pale belly with dark spots, a pale stripe above the eye, and most distinctive a orange-red patch under the wing. The red patch under the wing is most noticeable when the bird is in flight.

The Redwing visits the UK during October to March from Scandanavia. They congregate in flocks and are often seen with Fieldfares on the ground in open spaces such as farmland or in neighboring trees looking for worms and insects.

As well as live food, the Redwing will feed on fallen fruit in gardens.
